High School Seniors like Elizabeth are just about the best/happiest clients you can photograph. So happy I got to meet and hang out with her this past fall.
I've photographed this family more times than I can count. Christmas Pictures, Senior Photo's of all three girls (Emily was my second client ever), and everything else in between. The Van Der Walde's have been one of my biggest cheering sections, greatest clients, and such awesome friends. Just as we did with Sarah's Sessions (Part One and Part Two), we did a Michigan Session in Downtown Ann Arbor first. Then, because horses are such a huge part of her life, I hit the road to Lexington to photograph Lizzie at the Kentucky Horse Park. Everything about both of these days was perfect. The light in Kentucky as you'll see below was absolutely bonkers, and I got to stretch my camera to places it hasn't been before. Not to mention, those freaking majestic beasts Lizzie gets to compete with.
So take a second, and just get a little peak into the life of Lizzie as a Senior. She's pretty dang cool. My only sadness in all of this is that there's no more Van Der Walde girls left to photograph. We've just got to get them married off so I can start shooting some weddings :)
Literally minutes after we started shooting in that beautiful, sunny, fall light; the clouds rolled in and brought some of the most intense wind and darkness, and fast. Rather than retreat to the cars, we decided to risk it and roll with what we were handed. What ensued was some absolutely perfect dramatic light (with no rain!) followed by a beautiful, perfect sunset hitting the lake. I'd call it a win all around. Not to mention, I'd kill for any of that warmth right about now. Meet Mallory, she's going to do some great things in this life.
The other morning I set out to the city of Detroit to join Sarah and her Mom for a senior session/tour around the city. Seriously guys, this family is one of the best there is, and I've been privileged with taking photos of all three daughters at some point in time, which is just about the best thing I could be honored with. Sarah freaking rocked this shoot, am I right? Heck, she didn't even bat an eye at the ridiculous locations I dragged her into. Enjoy just some of the awesome frames we made that day, and be on the lookout for part 2 in the coming weeks as I head to Kentucky to join her at the Lexington Horse Park. That's what I call a rad senior session.
Cole and Morgen just have something special about them. I haven't quite put a finger on it yet, but it makes them ridiculously amazing and their love for each other is contagious. Here's hoping I can find out more about that magic at their wedding this weekend. Cheers.
When you know, you know. I've never heard that statement ring more true than it does for these two. Their love and relationship is inspiring, fun, and beautiful. And for that reason, I'm incredibly stoked to shoot their wedding next year.
You know that feeling you get in the pit of your stomach when you just feel that something is simply good? Where it's all that you can do but to jump up and down with excitement because of happiness you see in someone else? Jeff and Karah are just one of those couples that put a serious smile on your face the minute you're with them. We laughed, we drove around Ann Arbor, and we just had a genuinely good time celebrating them and the amazing love that they share. I truly cannot even wait for their wedding next June, if it's anything like their engagement session, we're in for some great times.
This is a family that means so incredibly much to me, its as simple as that. I shot Chandler + Jessica's Wedding, and everything else in between. Watching them learn and grow together as a family brings me such indescribable joy and seeing one of my best friends turn into an awesome husband and father has been awesome to see. So take a second and check out just how sweet the Welling's are, and if you don't smile at least once while looking at these photos you may need some help ;)
Jenna and Chelsea are an amazing couple. They met during one of their first classes as they began med school and have shared countless classes, laughs, and memories since. They're both in the process of finishing up their residency at the University of Michigan and will undoubtedly go on to do some amazing things. The second I met them during their engagement session, I knew that they would have nothing less than a beautiful day. Chelsea and Jenna were my first wedding of 2011 and I couldn't have thought of a better way to start off the year. They planned every detail of their farm wedding down to a tee, and Chelsea was working hard to make sure everything looked perfect right down to the final minutes. The flowers were beautiful, the venue was beautiful, the decor was beautiful, and of course, the bride was really beautiful. The way Chelsea watched his bride as she came down the aisle, and the look he had in his eyes as he watched her from across the room was completely inspiring. It's wedding days like this that make me completely overjoyed and incredibly thankful that I get to have this as my job.
So to Jenna and Chelsea: a million congratulations. I was absolutely honored to spend this day with you.
