This is just your friendly reminder that the snowy crap is only 16 weeks away. But really, sorry for taking you guys back to the winter on this cloudy July day, but I couldn't pass up the chance to show these two, especially this week of all weeks. Ferdinand is my best friend to end all best friends. The kid walked up to me in my neighborhood (9 houses down from me) in the summer before 3rd grade and just very proudly said "Hi, I'm Ferdinand!" (me thinking this was a complete made up name proved to be incorrect). Needless to say, we were inseparable from that point on. Basketball, Camping, Lego's, a short stint as a band called "Miner in Possession" that created hot beats using Garage Band; we did it all. Obviously, the years have gone on, we've gone to college, we've started our jobs, I got married and had a kid before just about any of our other friends even considered seriously dating; but he's remained that one, awesome constant in my life. The friend I'm so thankful that has known me through every single step of the way. This weekend, he finally gets to marry the love of his life. Something I'm so grateful that he has found. Courtney is his perfect match and his incredible companion. Their personalities play off of each other so well, and the happiness they share just pours out of these images. Unfortunately, due to the life of a wedding photographer that has to plan his life a year in advance or more, I won't be in attendance for the big day. It's a bummer, and I'll be missing them both so much that day; but I also know that there's so much more in this life and our friendship than that one day. This is just the beginning for them. It's an event and a celebration, for sure. But it's just one day out of the thousands of others we've already shared, and will share in the future. They've got a whole marriage ahead of them, a beautiful journey, and I just can't wait to walk through the rest of the foreseeable future with Ferdinand and Courtney right there with us.
A few weeks back I got to do an engagement session a little differently. Cut out all of the location scouting, all of the walking around towns or buildings or fields or rivers. Cut it all back to just the love. To making breakfast and drinking coffee and building forts in the living room (and sweating profusely because the A/C chose that day to stop working). Katie and Scott are two of my new favorite humans on earth. Their love is infectious, and their care for others is inspiring. Just a couple weeks after I photographed them in their apartment, I got to photograph their wedding surrounded by only the very most important people in their lives. That'll be hitting this blog before you know it, you better believe it.
We found love at a Christmas Tree Farm (and Downtown Ann Arbor).
Bethany and Brian took me two very special places for their engagement session. The first was a bookstore where they sat in front of the windows and talked for hours early on in their love story. The second a secret swim club hidden back within the crops on a farm in Plymouth. To say I'm stoked to shoot their wedding at the Chrysler Museum next month, would be an extreme understatement.
Sarah and Patrick are THAT couple. They just have it. They light up the room when they walk in, they can't keep their eyes off of each other for more than two seconds, and they're so ridiculously excited to be marrying one another and starting a new life together. I think that's just the coolest.
Gah...these two. So. Much. Goodness.
It's a cold, snowy, blustery day here in Michigan and I think we're all getting to the point where we hope it ends soon. That being said, I figured I ought to show off the snowy-engaged bliss of Eric + Danielle before all of you are completely fed up with winter. Take a moment and drink in the awesomeness of these two.
These two. Come on. They're hilarious, they're ridiculously in love, they laugh together and they understand each other. Take all of that and add in the fact that they brought me to her family's little cabin getaway in Tawas, MI situated near the shores of incredible Lake Huron for their engagement session. I mean, COME ON. My job rules.
