This family. My family. Every year or so we finally get around to getting together to snap some pictures (not that we're not together multiples times per week, every week), and it obviously gets crazier by the year as one or the other of us add another kid to the mix. At any rate, these are memories and times in our lives we won't soon forget. So I present you with the Louis Family (+ cameos by Henry) on this beautiful summer evening.
Theo turned two. He wasn't too huge of a fan of me, the cold, taking pictures, being outside, the Z lot, or really anything else but his parents to kick things off; but he came around. The lure of Punch Bowl Social, bowling balls, and cool arcade games was just way too strong.
I setup a makeshift studio in my living room a couple weeks back to photograph my twin nieces, their older sister, and my little guy in honor of the twins first birthday. This is what ensued.
The happiest + kindest little family you ever did meet.
Goodness, this sweet little family means so much to me. A couple of years back I had the pleasure of shooting Jessica + Justin's Engagement Session and Wedding. I've since been honored to call them friends, and now got a chance to document their ever-growing, perfect little clan. That's what this job is all about.
Gosh, it was so great to get to meet and hang out with the LaTarte family. I like to do family sessions a bit differently. I'm not all about the matching outfits in a random field somewhere. I want to document your family in a way that is real, in a way that is you. Whether this is in your home or at a different location, let's just do life together for a couple of hours. I got to meet Lauren, Brad and little Dean at their amazing home in Royal Oak and just go through a bit of the morning routine. Feedings, Nursery snuggles, and cuddling with their pup. After that, we hit the zoo! Lauren and Brad got married a few years ago at the Detroit Zoo, so it still holds a special place in their heart, especially now that they've got a baby to share it with.
LaTarte's; thank you for inviting me into your life for just a few hours. You guys are such a rad little family.
Yesterday I finally got to photograph this little section of the Immerfall family, and boy, did it mean so much to me. The laughter, the joy, and the love that just oozes from Eric, Sarah, and their two little guys is more than you could ever possibly imagine. Over the years I've had the chance to photograph weddings of two of Eric's siblings, new babies as they came, and I even valet parked for Eric and Sarah's wedding a few years back. The Immerfall's (every last one of them) are some of the greatest, most genuine people I know and being invited in to tell another beautiful story in their lives is an absolute honor. All that to say; meet Sarah, Eric, Foster, and Quinn. The most fashionable little family you ever did see. Shot yesterday at Sarah's grandparents house, and blogged today (because I just couldn't stand it). Enjoy!
I got to take photo's of two of the greatest joys in my life on a cloudy evening a few weeks back. Meet Shia + Aliyah, my niece and nephew.
Being chosen to document the incredible time in a teen's life, known as their Senior year is right up there with the honor that comes along with documenting a wedding day. Getting invited into the family, even if only for a couple hours is such a humbling experience. This time around I got to document not only Randal, but the rest of his family as well and it was worth every second. The Mill's family does it right.
The amount of joy that comes from watching a family grow up is indescribable. I got to take pictures of this amazing family last year at about this time and immediately fell in love with the four of them. This year I got to venture out again with them, this time to explore the west-side of our incredible state of Michigan. We're talking Lake Michigan, incredible forests, dunes, and beaches all within 5 minutes of each other; and with it being nearly winter, I wanted to take full advantage of it all. Meet The Drelles Family.
Quenten + Maisy + their two amazing parents makes for a ridiculously beautiful, love-filled summer evening.
Got to spend 25 minutes in a field with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law this evening to celebrate the new little person they're bringing into the world in September. Cali and I couldn't be any more thrilled to be gaining another niece (in addition to Aliyah and her little brother coming this week!). Maternity isn't usually my thing, but for family, how could you resist? :)
Ladies and Gentleman, we've seen the warm weather and the spring. It's coming, we just know it. It's time to dust off those shorts, skirts, and sunglasses and get ready for some Spring and Summer fun. I for one am tired of sitting inside on my computer all day this winter. It's time to get out, play at the park, run and splash in the creek, and GET YOUR FAMILY SHOT. Uhh...that didn't come out right. What I mean is, I really want to take some pictures of you. If you're a family that wants some rad images of your whole little crew, or even just some photos of your little one outside the bounds of a studio that cycles you in like a herd of cattle, let's do this! Let's hit your favorite park, your backyard, or even bake up something fun in your home. I want to capture your family in their element, enjoying each other's company. Laughing, playing, jumping, running, LIVING.
Because I'm so excited to get back out there and take advantage of that warm, sunny weather that is surely coming down the pipeline, I've decided to offer a deal to anyone that books a shoot for anytime in 2012. Family + Children shoots are going to be offered for this limited time for $175.00 (usually $250.00), and includes a disk of your final, edited images. That means a ton of stunning shots of your family or kids, for you to cherish, share, and love for years to come. You have to act quickly though, you only have through the month of April to book your shoot with me, so let's do it!
I'm so excited to meet your family and little guys and gals. Let's make some fun frames together. Use the contact page for questions, or to set something up! Also, if you're on Facebook, make sure to like JDG Photo here, and share this post so your friends can get in on the action :)
An awesome family that loves each other beyond words isn't too hard to come by, but when you do; it's an amazing feeling. An awesome family that loves each other beyond words and can manage to wake up and get ready in time for a beautiful sunrise session? I found them, and they're super special.
