A Scottish Adventure

Jamie, my dear friend and comrade of my work with CAT Footwear, Chaco, and perhaps the most-impactful of all: Michigan House shot me a text in late October. Its question? “Can you come to Scotland in a couple weeks?” My answer? “Schedule-wise, yes. Cali will kill me if I go to Europe for the first time without her though.” The answer? “Let’s get her over here too.” Within an hour, we had babysitters lined up for our kids and dogs (thank you from the bottom of our hearts to our families and our community here in Detroit), and a couple of weeks later we were headed for the adventure of a lifetime.

Glasgow. Luss. Glencoe. Oban. Edinburgh. And everywhere in between. But we had less than four days to do it after you removed the travel days. It was madness, it was glorious, it was absolutely perfect in every way. I got to photograph some of my favorite people along the way, I got to see (and drive) another part of the world with my lovely wife by my side, and I created some of my favorite work in a VERY long time.

I’ll just shut up and let you take a peek for yourself. Here’s the amazing country of Scotland, through my eyes. Thank you Jamie, Ryan, Bethany, and Julien for the trip and opportunity of a lifetime. It’s something I’ll never forget.

Michele + Gaurav

When weddings take me north, I'm in my happy place. When weddings take me north AND they're held at a decommissioned U.S. Coast Guard station? Now that's just silly. Pair it with that sweet, quiet magic that Michele + Gaurav share together; and its just a match made in heaven.

Taryn + Sam

There's certain people you meet in life, and especially in a job such as mine that just give off the right vibes. The kind of vibes that make you know that you want to work with them, to tell their story from the very get-go. Taryn + Sam are those people.

Two people that on the surface might appear slightly shy or reserved, but then you set foot in their home and you feel like you've been friends for years. They spend their days designing and modeling cars, and spend their evenings working on their incredible mid-century home in Detroit (if you didn't see their engagement session at the house, check it out here). Basically what I'm trying to say, is that they ooze style and taste and I so completely dig them for that. I knew the wedding day was going to be nothing short of perfect, and that wish came true as well.

This is what it looks like when two people so deeply in love, tie the knot on Detroit's Belle Isle from ceremony to reception, and sun-up till sun-down. The day was magic, simple as that.
