The Stier Family

Summertime in Northern Michigan with such an amazing family. The clouds rolled in, and the moments just kept getting better and better.

The Waldvogel Family

No distance too far to document your family doing what they do best: living life. New York City is endless inspiration, endless new sights + sounds. Bring me back here again and again and I'll be forever grateful.

The Strickland Family

The end of one chapter, and the beginning of another. The Strickland family wanted to remember this magical house they had called home, before they embarked on to the next house and the next set of memories. Truly my favorite kind of family shoot. This is the Strickland Family, and this is their real life.

The Economy Family

The coolest of families photographed on a perfect fall day in Indian Village, Detroit. The style and the laughs and the love flowing between all three of them is all you can ever hope and dream. Enjoy just a small snippet of a day in the life of the Economy Family.

The Johnson Family

I don't have much to say about this one. The only words I can muster are just some semblance of how incredibly special it is to be invited into a family's everyday. The mundane, the chaotic, the breakfast, the running around in your underwear. The love flowing from their little house is tangible, and it is real, and you can see it on all of their faces. It was just a Wednesday morning in their world, but it's a day I won't soon forget.

The Louis Family

This family. My family. Every year or so we finally get around to getting together to snap some pictures (not that we're not together multiples times per week, every week), and it obviously gets crazier by the year as one or the other of us add another kid to the mix. At any rate, these are memories and times in our lives we won't soon forget. So I present you with the Louis Family (+ cameos by Henry) on this beautiful summer evening.

The Dehne Family

It's not often that I shoot maternity photos (read: never). But there was something about the way Jamie described my work when she emailed me, and what she thought this session could be that brought me completely on board. Maybe becoming a dad myself has made me a big softy, but being a part of these sessions was just so dang special. To be able to watch two parts of this new adventure unfold in front of my camera was such an amazing honor.

First, the maternity session at Jamie's grandparents home that she spent most of her childhood years at on Grosse Ile. And second, Nora joins the world and makes Jamie and Kyle parents for the first time. Photographed in their home in Plymouth in the few days following her birth. There's no other way I'd want it.

The Morrice Family

MFB_01.jpg

Marty, Sabrina, and baby Harlow. The sweetest little family in the cutest little flat in North Corktown, Detroit. I loved photographing these three in their home so, so much. There's a certain peace and serenity that surrounds a home in those first few days after a baby comes. It's a chance (in between the eating and sleeping and pooping) to just sit back and take it all in. To count your blessings and see how much life has changed. I'm just honored I got to be there for a few minutes of it.

The Woodbeck's

WFB_01.jpg

Goodness, this sweet little family means so much to me. A couple of years back I had the pleasure of shooting Jessica + Justin's Engagement Session and Wedding. I've since been honored to call them friends, and now got a chance to document their ever-growing, perfect little clan. That's what this job is all about.

Lindsey + Brandon

BMB_01.jpg

These two. Two of Cali and I's most awesome and dear friends. Ridiculously talented photographers too. They're joining the baby club somewhere around Christmas with a boy and we couldn't possibly be more stoked for them if we tried. They weren't completely sold on the idea of a maternity session, but felt like they should have something to document this amazing time in their lives. So naturally, they come to the guy that has like 2 maternity sessions under his belt, I race home from Detroit after a meeting, and we shoot for the final 20 minutes before we lost the sun. And you know what? It was just about as perfect as it could possibly be.

The LaTarte Family

Gosh, it was so great to get to meet and hang out with the LaTarte family. I like to do family sessions a bit differently. I'm not all about the matching outfits in a random field somewhere. I want to document your family in a way that is real, in a way that is you. Whether this is in your home or at a different location, let's just do life together for a couple of hours. I got to meet Lauren, Brad and little Dean at their amazing home in Royal Oak and just go through a bit of the morning routine. Feedings, Nursery snuggles, and cuddling with their pup. After that, we hit the zoo! Lauren and Brad got married a few years ago at the Detroit Zoo, so it still holds a special place in their heart, especially now that they've got a baby to share it with.

LaTarte's; thank you for inviting me into your life for just a few hours. You guys are such a rad little family.

The Louis' at Home

There's a certain serenity; a calmness that comes with photographing a family in their own home. A chance to stop, for even a moment within the chaos of every day life to celebrate that very life; that very gift you're living. If you remember their shoot from a couple months back, you'll notice that the world just got a little bit more wild for Meg + Chris. Every day is a new adventure, a new exploration into how to best do this life together. I'm just thankful that Cali and I get to be there to celebrate, experience, and grow with them every step of the way.

The Shelton Family

SFB_01.jpg

The Shelton Family. There's not much to say except that they're absolutely awesome. I've known Tim and Kelli for years, first as my leaders in my youth group throughout high school, and then as friends as we all got a little older. Now they've got two of the absolute cutest little girls. It's always such a blast to document families as they are. Not posed in a studio, but out in the environment where we can run and play and laugh. That's what I aim to capture, and that's what this session was all about. Taking the Shelton family exactly as they are. Way more fun that way :)

The Immerfall Family

Yesterday I finally got to photograph this little section of the Immerfall family, and boy, did it mean so much to me. The laughter, the joy, and the love that just oozes from Eric, Sarah, and their two little guys is more than you could ever possibly imagine. Over the years I've had the chance to photograph weddings of two of Eric's siblings, new babies as they came, and I even valet parked for Eric and Sarah's wedding a few years back. The Immerfall's (every last one of them) are some of the greatest, most genuine people I know and being invited in to tell another beautiful story in their lives is an absolute honor. All that to say; meet Sarah, Eric, Foster, and Quinn. The most fashionable little family you ever did see. Shot yesterday at Sarah's grandparents house, and blogged today (because I just couldn't stand it). Enjoy!

Meg + Chris + Emma + Two

See that cute tiny chick with the awesome teeth below? That's my sweet little niece, Emma. We decided to take the last 30 minutes of sunlight the other night to celebrate her first year of life, and the impending arrival of her TWO sisters in the coming weeks. This little family means so much to me, and it has been so awesome to see Meg and Chris become such stellar parents over the last 14 months. Their world is about to change big time, and we're just excited to be along for the ride with them. Sorry I'm not sorry for the cuteness overload you're about to experience.

The Therrien Family

My beautiful wife has some absolutely awesome family that lives up in the Montreal area of Québec, Canada and they generally get into this neck of the woods a time or two per year. Luckily, this time around Lisa made sure I could take some photos while they were here, so I got to spend an evening hanging with her, and her two boys. She left one boy at home (her husband) to build(!!!) a new house within the 6 months or so he's taken off. Talk about a ridiculously amazing accomplishment. All that to say, this family is incredible and I'm so glad to know all of them, I couldn't think of a better way to spend a beautiful Summer evening.

Emma at Six Months

We had a fairly quick*, impromptu shoot to celebrate Emma's 6 months of amazing life last week. Withstanding the constant wonderment with all the treasures in her nursery and the onslaught of 5 dogs walking all over the "set", we had a blast and Aunt Cali managed to get some pretty easy smiles out of her. Goodness, we love our little nieces and nephews. * Quick because I brought one battery that died halfway through the shoot. Rookie Uncle move.
