Hannah + John

I don’t even have words for this day. For these people. For this place. I guess that’s why we have photos, to tell the stories that words can’t convey. Hannah + John are absolutely golden human beings. They exude happiness and kindness and love to people they’ve never met (see also: me). They invited people into their home and into their world to show them the city they fell deeply and madly in love with, and I’m so glad they did. This was my third wedding in New Orleans, and I’m hoping not my last. There’s just way too much magic left to capture there, I can’t stop yet.

Meet Hannah + John. They’re my friends, they’re perfect for each other, and their story is gorgeous. I hope you enjoy.

Brooke + Alex

The magic of destination weddings never wears on me. The gathering of friends from all over the world, often for a more extended period of time than a traditional wedding just makes it feel different. Everyone has met everyone, they've enjoyed each others company, they have nowhere else to be. It's all about the love, it's all about the celebration, and on this perfectly cloudy day in June in the Catskill Mountains; it was all about Brooke + Alex.

Jane + Brian

What do I even begin to say about this day. It was truly like something out of a dream from start to finish. You see, Jane was one of the few (500, give or take) year-round residents of Mackinac Island for her entire life. She saw the beauty, and the solace, and the magic of this place where cars don't exist and tourists run rampant for 6 months out of the year. Even after spending her life there, the mystique remained, and it was something she wanted to share not only with Brian every chance she got through their dating relationship; but with family and friends as well on this day.

What resulted, was this small, intimate, and perfect day that you see below. At her father's property overlooking the Straits of Mackinac and the Mackinac Bridge, all was perfect, all was serene, all was just them. Brunch with her girls, beers with his guys, all the familiar sights and sounds that they knew so well. The party broke up around 6pm, and that was our chance for an insiders tour of the island for sunset portraits like I've never taken before. It was beautiful and gorgeous and heartwarming every second of that whole day, and I just pray that you can feel some of that through these images below.

Grab your coffee and try and breathe some of this in. Then make it to the bottom of the post to see what my friends at Sculpted Films created that day too, because they're insane. Also, listen to Jane + Brian and their group FINKEL today, because they're also insane.

If you made it this far, don’t miss the incredible artistry that my friends at Sculpted Films created for Jane + Brian that day too. Unreal.

Jessica + Aleks

New Orleans is always SO incredibly good to me. In 2017 I had the chance to re-visit this amazing city for two back-to-back weekends; kicking things off with Jessica + Aleks and the dream team they hired to make this day more incredible than words can even begin to describe. Every last detail, from prep at The Melrose Mansion, to the vintage Rolls to get to the ceremony, to the clear-top tent and incredible details at The Elms Mansion in the historic Garden District of New Orleans . It was all brought together by the insanely talented Brooke Casey Weddings to be a night I truly won't ever forget.

Now, for Jessica + Aleks. The ever-loving, goofy grin-bearing couple that brought me to The Big Easy for this day. Their story is insane, and involves Aleks spotting Jessica in LAX days before meeting her for the first time (not knowing that his future held her being an associate attorney in his law office), and being smitten with her from the start, before he even knew her name. From Toronto to NOLA (and guests from around the world), they wanted this destination wedding to be fun, relaxed, and carry over a bit of that New Orleans magic Jessica had known was there since she was a little girl. I'll let the photos below speak to that, but I think all that magic and more was there.

After a long blogging hiatus and an insanely busy 2017, I'm just glad to be back here again sharing these stories that I get the honor to tell, week in and week out. So follow along, because there's more goodness to be shown, and I'm itching to share these stories with the world.

Liz + Joe

Man, I'm so far overdue on showing you guys any of my 2016 weddings. Why not start it off with a bang and show you two of the kindest, most beautiful souls I had the pleasure of photographing last year? Liz and Joe became more than just clients, in such a short period of time and I'm so thankful to have gotten to see and document the incredible story of their love. Plus, Planterra never ceases to freaking kill it with every single wedding.

This place is gorgeous in every nook and cranny and so perfectly complemented the laid-back, fresh and fun wedding that Liz + Joe wanted to put together. So throw some coffee in that cup, put on your favorite Bon Iver tune, and slow-scroll the crap out of this stupidly adorable couple's wedding day. You'll be glad you did.
